Theses may be written using either the Word template or the LaTeX1 template.

*1 LaTeX is a typesetting system widely used in academia, particularly suitable for preparing high-quality scientific and mathematical documents. We encourage our students to prepare their theses using the LaTeX template, as it helps minimize time lost in formatting adjustments. For students unfamiliar with LaTeX, a user guide has been prepared to facilitate the use of the template. Additionally, the template itself includes several tips and instructions for ease of use.*

	THESIS SUBMISSION
For the first submission, theses must be bound with spiral or cardboard covers; for the final submission, they must be cloth-bound in the color codes specified below. During printing, pages up to (but not including) the table of contents should be printed single-sided, and from the table of contents onward, double-sided.

According to the Council of Higher Education’s (YÖK) official letter dated 03.06.2020 and numbered 36054236-806.01.03-E.32794, the CD submitted with the bound thesis must not include the jury signature page containing the jury members’ names and signatures.

The physical copy of the bound thesis must include the original (“wet”) signatures of the thesis jury members. Signature pages must be identical to those provided in the official thesis templates. Signature pages that do not conform to the official format will not be accepted, even if signed by the jury. In such cases, students are required to update the page according to the template and obtain the signatures again. Students are responsible for ensuring compliance.

For the “Directive on Research Ethics in Scientific Research and Publications,” accepted by the General Assembly of the Council of Higher Education on 29.08.2012 (Decision No. 2012.18.946), which covers research ethics related to theses, scientific publications, and R&D projects conducted during graduate studies, click here.

When citing sources and preparing the references section, only one of the IEEE or APA reference systems must be used, and consistency with the chosen system must be maintained throughout the thesis.

YTU Graduate School of Science and Engineering recommends using the LaTeX thesis template via the online LaTeX editor (https://www.overleaf.com). Our Graduate School staff cannot provide technical support for issues arising from local LaTeX editors. However, if you prefer to use an offline editor, to resolve the issue of references not displaying properly, you may choose **biber** as your bibliography manager instead of **bibtex.
